Holliston Historical Society Offers a Venue for Any Rental Need
Both the Asa Whiting House and Barn are available for weddings, private parties, bar/bat mitzvahs, anniversary celebrations, reunions, business functions, or other events. Set in a small New England town, our historic House and Barn are fine examples of life in the mid-1800s.
Rentals
Rentals are from 11am-11pm
Asa Whiting House:Built in 1812, the House was originally sited closer to Washington Street and was moved to its present site in the early 1930s. It has been redecorated with period wallpapers. Furniture is typical for the time and accents the front parlor and formal dining room. The large meeting room is used for both formal and informal functions. The house rental includes the use of the entire first floor (meeting room, parlor, dining room, and kitchen) as well as the two side porches. (The kitchen is licensed only for the serving of off-premise prepared foods, not meal production)
The Barn: Built in 1817, was restored in the 1970s. At that time, a full kitchen and lavatories were added at the back. The capacity of the Barn is 100 people and includes use of the barn kitchen, side yards, and Wedding garden.
Parking: Ample parking is located on the grounds, with additional parking available on Washington Street.
For any unanswered questions, to check availability or to set up an appointment to view the facility, please email the Property Manager.
NOTE: The barn is closed from mid-November through March due to insufficient heating capability. Rental of the barn in early November or early April is also at risk of insufficient heat.
Helpful Suggestions
1. Parking and Transportation
Our parking area can accommodate about 35 cars. If you have a tent, it will be less. However, there is a full lane of parking along the sidewalk on our side of the street. You may want to ask your service people to park on the street so there will be more spaces for your guests.
If you have out of town guests for your wedding, some of the local hotels can provide shuttle service to and from. There may be discounts if you have booked multiple rooms. This ensures that all guests arrive and depart on time.
2. Coordinator
Particularly for weddings, it is almost necessary to have an official party coordinator to make sure everything is on schedule and take the responsibility off of the bride and groom. If you have it in your budget, a hired party planner is the best. If not, a trusted friend or relative.
