January Potluck Evening Enjoyed By All
Members and their guests enjoyed the annual Potluck dinner on the evening of January 16th. It began about 5:30pm with appetizers, beverages and the much anticipated Patriots vs. Kansas City Chiefs' playoff game. Dinner was delicious and enlightening with many recipes from the 1920s through the 1940s. There were chicken entrees, Swiss steak and noodles, macaroni and cheese, a bean and cheese loaf (popular in the 1940s when meat was very expensive), hot dogs and beans, Waldorf salad......just to name a few.......very satisfying! The desserts and coffee or tea that followed were sumptious, plentiful and some had their own stories from the past. Did you know keylime pie had a past?.. The Patriots WON the playoff game after which, our own historian, Ms Joanne Hulbert presented some of our new collection additions: a stately Victorian banquet (oil) lamp, donated by John DeLoge, original documents, a handwritten map and pictures from the Brooks family of Brooksmont Farm.
Good Job members! "Everyone did their job!" ( to quote Bill Belicheck, Pat's coach)
